How would you categorize these animals? Most will put the panda with the elephant, the snake with the anole. But they look different; the elephant is much larger than the panda, has less hair, bigger ears, etc. We put objects into broad categories because it helps us sort out the gross characteristics. Further observations allow us to subdivide the categories.
